Hola 👋
So, I’m guessing the only reason you clicked on this post is because you enjoy a frosty craft beer on a hot day. Love that. We’re from California’s West Coast and craft beer is our DNA. So naturally, we made the ridiculous goal to check out EVERY CRAFT BREWERY in Costa Rica. It’ll take some time, but here’s our list of Costa Rica’s craft beer.
We’ve tried adding every brewery here, but we may have missed some, and new breweries are popping up all the time. Drop us a comment below if I missed one so we can add it to the list and check it out!

Our 5 Favorite Breweries
In no specific order, these are our 5 favorite craft breweries in Costa Rica.
Fuego Brewing
Tucked away in the sleepy surf town of Dominical, Fuego Brewing may have landed first on our list because it was the first craft brewery that we visited in Costa Rica. This is our go-to place after a day trip to Nauyaca Falls. There’s a little driveway that takes you from the main road to the parking area. Come hungry because they also have some amazing food.
Great brews and great vibes
Brothers Of Ale
The first time we had a Brothers of Ale beer was at Amigos Tacos in Playa Flamingo. They were selling massive bottles of BOA beer and naturally we had to try a few with our meal. Of course, we had to stop by the brewery, and now it’s a required stop when we’re in the Flamingo area. The brewer/owner Alaks has made sure it’s always a fun time at the brewery. They host poker nights, ugly tank top contests (holiday sweaters are too hot), and all sorts of activities that are made better by good craft beer. Follow them on IG here. Cheers to Alaks for being down to ferment.
Grab a flight and enjoy!
Potrero Brewing
It doesn’t matter where we’re going… our rental car instinctively turns into Potrero Brewing every time we pass by. They have some of the best craft beer in Costa Rica, and it’s my favorite place to watch our LA Chargers lose by 3 points in the 4th quarter. There are some great snacks in the food court outside too.
Sunday Football at Potrero Brewing
Monteverde Brewing Co
So, we like to drink beer and play cards. It takes us to a lot of fun breweries, but we’ve never experienced an energy like this place. After the beer, interacting with the staff is the experience. We’ve never been treated so much like family… even by our family. Jose and the rest of the team crushed it. Thanks again for having us and we’ll be back soon! Also, their burgers are the best we’ve had in Costa Rica.
A don’t miss in Monteverde
Dirigo Fermentory
Dirigo Fermentory is located in Alajuela, about 10 minutes from the San Jose International Airport. It makes for the perfect stop over before a late flight. They have a few core beers and non-alcoholic kombuchas on tap. The kombuchas are sugar bombs, but the beers and food are fantastic.
Another good pre-flight brew in San Jose (SJO)
